Preparing for the 2005 Job Market
|
By Alfasha Zulkifli, MS Information Systems, DePaul University
So, it’s that time of the year again. You are frantically applying finishing touches to your cover letters and fluffing up your resume before sending them off to 500 different companies that you have carefully targeted over the break. You are graduating in six months, and the perfect offer hasn’t come knocking on the door as you expected. Now what do you do? How do you prepare for this year’s market? Were the statistics correct—is the economy really improving? Are there going to be jobs available in this country by the time you graduate, or will they all be shipped offshore, just like your coworkers and friends predicted?

All faith in the human race is now gone.

tinman writes "I was driving down the road this evening, after picking up my mighty tasty Spicy Chicken Sandwich from Wendy's, when an Ambulance flashing his lights and sounding his siren came over a hill in front of me. I pulled to the side like a good little citizen and wait for the rolling ER to pass me. Just then behind it I see.... a Domino's pizza delivery car, of course, fast giving chase. You're supposed to stay 500 ft from an Ambulance and pull to the side, but whatever. I guess he's in a hurry to deliver his pizza and breadsticks. When much to my amazement the pizza boy wonder (doing 65+ in a 40)PASSES the ambulance (going 35-40) and sprints out in front. About 1.5 miles down the road he turned into some residential area going to deliver his pizza followed a few seconds later by the lagging ambulance.
I’d heard it said a few times “Only in America can you get a pizza to your house faster than an ambulance.” I didn’t think I’d actually get to see it.

The motor swap that never was....
|
Well, I thought that i'd found a good motor to swap into my Lexus SC 300. It was up for sale on eBay by Zave2000 (a.k.a Midwest Engine Sales). But it turns out the motor was totally destroyed. You can read about it here on NASIOC.

Traded in the WRX on Thursday April 8th. The good guys over at Larry Roesch gave me a great deal both on the trade in and on the cost of the new evo. Pics here in the Gallery.

I've created a sister site, Akirasoft Motorsports. It is currently under contstruction so all features arent fully functional. However, over there you will find over 130 compressor maps in addition to links to some of the various projects that are underway for some of our members. Expect articles contributed by members on various aspects of tuning plus the automotive calculators soon!

I've created some forums for the Midwest Subaru Owners Club. Previously we've only had our small little corner of NASIOC, this will allow us to have our own area free from some of the policies of NASIOC. You can check out the forums here:

Thanks for checking it out!

Well, the ABIT AT7-MAX2 finally crapped out last night so Fasha gave me my Xmas present early, a Shuttle XN45G XPC. This thing kicks so much ass its not funny. After some initial hiccups, it is ticking away smoothly. Click read more to get the full story!

I picked up Need For Speed: Underground yesterday and played it quite a bit last night. I've uploaded a few screenshots here. Hopefully I will add some more as I progress through the game.
